Our Kitesurf School in Lanzarote is based on safety, professionalism, results and lots of fun... In order to achieve our goals, we focus on the following;
1. Teaching Spot Characteristics
The 5 Km sand beach of Famara has ideal wind conditions to learn and practice kitesurf. Famara beach is also an obstacle free beach free of buildings, piers and the rest of obstacles found in other kite spots out there. The "alisios" trade winds blowing from March until October with a on-side-on direction makes this spot a very safe & fun one to learn or practice Kitesurfing.
2. IKO certified Instructors
As mentioned before, all instructors are skilled kiteboarders and have years of experience teaching kitesurf at all levels. All are IKO certified and trained (IKO level 2 senior instructors) . They are friendly and competent,. All are European Lifeguard certified and schooled in water safety. They have extensive training in teaching beginner and advanced Kitesurf techniques.
3. Individualized teaching program
Our teaching program has been developed according to IKO (International Kitesurfing Organization) standards. You will learn step by step on the safest and most fun manner. Our instructors work on student’s level and needs to complete their training with us. At CostaNoroeste Surf Camp we also maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio to ensure you receive the attention you need.
Our IKO certified kite Instructors will also teach you all you need to practice the sport with full safety for you and other beach users *safety systems activation, spot selection, meteorology, equipment safety devices and systems, wind knowledge, self rescue etc etc…
4. Kite School Equipment
Costa Noroeste Kitesurfing School is a Naish Pro Center counting with the latest Naish equipment. Other leading brands such as Rip Curl (wetsuits) Gath (helmets) Motorola (radio devices) support and supply our kite surf school in Famara/Lanzarote. We offer a very low student-to-teacher ratio (1/4) and supply all necessary material (kites, harness, helmet, wetsuit, board etc.). Our classes are radio-assisted (you will be in constant contact with our instructor, even when in the water) and we supply up to date equipment, safety systems as well as helmets and life vests. The Kite surfing School owns two water rescue boats (Jet Ski & Zodiac).
Kitesurfing is a fast developing sport and there are many fast developing schools out there. We have been instructing Kitesurfing safely and successfully for already 7 years. We have a teaching program developed according to IKO (International Kitesurfing Organization) standards. We are not about two days fast courses like many other schools. Our goal is for our beginner kite campers to become safe and fully self-sufficient kiters ready to enjoy the sport by themselves once they finish their instruction with us (level achievement is always determined by student´s learning curve). Our lessons provide a proven step-by-step approach to learn Kitesurfing safely and quickly.
We also count with intermediate and advanced level Kitesurfing programs to help you get your Kitesurfing skills to where you want them. Our instructors have been formed and trained by IKO. Our intermediate kite camp in Lanzarote is aimed at people who have done a beginner kite course elsewhere and for one reason or another were unable to complete it or feel they would like to recap on the water work to boost their confidence. They know all the theory, are competent beach "flyers" but just need to cover body dragging and getting on the board. Only for those that have at least completed IKO level 1.
The Water starter course is also for those that have completed IKO level 1 or 2, are fully knowledgeable and competent on all the steps covered on the IKO level 1 or 2, know all the land work, body dragged, tried to water start (un-hooked and hooked) and are finding that you are rolling in the water pre-launch and just not getting anywhere, totally hooked on Kite surfing though!
The Water starter gives you ongoing coaching to improve body positioning, kite and power control, better board and edging technique and aims to get you up on the board every time and kite surfing out and back, maybe downwind but grinning away nevertheless!
You should only apply to this intermediate level course only if you have fully completed all the steps on IKO level 1 or up to IKO level 2. More >>>
Our Advanced Kite Camp in Lanzarote is for those that are more natural to kitesurfing, have covered IKO Level 2, bought their first kite and board and are regularly practising at a local spot.
You may well be up on the board and finding that you get over powered and wiping out spectacularly after a blistering run or just don't seem to be able to crack the upwind technique and having to walk back up the beach. For sure you still have a limited amount of Kite flying hours and frustration is lurking so at this point to give you the extra kite sizes you need, coaching tips and supervision we aim to improve your upwind ability, smooth out transitions and may well start to explore controlled jumps whilst in a safe environment.
This course aims at people that have completed and are fully competent on all steps covered on IKO level 1 and 2 or those of you that have covered IKO level 3 but still need coaching to get their kitesurfing skills to the maximum. More>>>
